▫️First attempt at a veggie burger!
▫️This burger is made with organic black beans from aldiusa on a whole-wheat bun from traderjoes topped with avocado 🥑, onion 🧅, chia seeds, ketchup & mustard.
▫️Like I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been trying to incorporate more beans/legumes into my diet. Beans/legumes are an excellent way to get in that plant-based protein and fiber👍🏼
▫️One compound I want to talk about in black beans is quercetin. It is a flavonoid that’s also found in foods like red wine, onions, green tea, berries, etc. Quercetin contains anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, & antioxidant properties. It’s biological properties may also improve mental & physical performance and reduce infection risk (source: Li, Yao et al. Quercetin, Inflammation and Immunity. (2016). Nutrients 8(3), 167.)
